1. Introduction
Welcome to Academia Sync. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Academia Sync mobile application (“the App”), operated by the Academia Sync development team (“we”, “our”, or “us”).
By using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Note: The app is currently in beta development and not yet available to the public. These Terms outline the intended use and responsibilities once the app is launched.
2. App Purpose
Academia Sync is designed to help South African learners manage their academic schedules, assignments, study plans, and curriculum progress based on the official Department of Basic Education’s Annual Teaching Plans (ATPs).
3. Accounts and Access
When registration becomes available:
- You must provide accurate and complete information.
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for unlawful or harmful purposes.
- Attempt to hack, decompile, or reverse-engineer the software.
- Upload harmful, misleading, or unauthorized content.
- Interfere with the normal operation of the service.
Violation may result in suspension or permanent termination of access.
5. Payments, Subscriptions, Cancellation, and Refunds
Some features of Academia Sync are offered under paid subscription plans.
- All payments are processed securely through third-party payment providers such as Paystack and are subject to their respective terms and policies.
- Subscription pricing, billing cycles, and included features will be clearly displayed before purchase.
- Users may cancel their subscription at any time.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- No refunds will be issued for partial billing periods, unused time, or after cancellation, regardless of usage.
- Failure to use the service does not constitute grounds for a refund.
By purchasing a subscription, you acknowledge and agree to this no-refund policy.
6. Intellectual Property
All software, designs, logos, and branding associated with Academia Sync are the property of the Academia Sync team.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse-engineer any part of the App without explicit written permission.
7. Availability and Updates
The App may experience downtime, bugs, or temporary interruptions, especially during beta and update periods.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service and reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time without liability.
8. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
Academia Sync is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis.
We make no warranties regarding accuracy, performance, availability, or outcomes achieved through use of the App.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including data loss or academic outcomes.
9. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access immediately if you violate these Terms, misuse the service, or engage in harmful behavior.
Termination does not entitle you to any refund.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of South African courts.
